Apprentissage hybride - comprendre le concept et comment l'appliquer dans votre classe !
The hybrid modality that arrived as a form of assistance, but revolutionized teaching and remains as part of it. In a very summarized way, hybrid learning involves mixing face-to-face activities with the use of resources in the virtual environment.
This way, it's possible to apply hybrid learning from early childhood education to higher education, encouraging students to have autonomy and protagonism when studying.

Concept of Hybrid Learning
Also known as "blended learning", the concept of hybrid learning is the combination of face-to-face, carried out in the classroom, with distance learning, which uses technologies to continue education.
According to the Clayton Christensen Institute, hybrid learning enables the personalization of the learning process, based on the institution's culture.
This allows applying technology with the intention of adding content to students. As a result, the face-to-face aspect of more traditional classes, which focuses on the interaction between teacher and student, is not lost.
The importance of hybrid learning in the modern era
Hybrid learning and its modalities represent a major break from traditional classroom models. Therefore, it promises to increase student engagement, encouraging them to put into practice what they have learned.
Some of the known benefits of this methodology are:
- Time optimization;
- More attractive and efficient knowledge construction;
- Increased autonomy;
- Adaptation of different learning methodologies;
- Encouragement of collaboration between students and teachers.
These benefits will transform the student's learning experience and deliver important data to educators about their students, allowing classes to be constantly improved.
Hybrid Learning Models
In addition to being sustained or disruptive, hybrid learning is very broad. Station rotation, flipped classroom, and rotational laboratory are just some of these models.
The models can be used according to the characteristics of the students, maximizing their education. We've separated 3 of these models and will explain a little more about them:
- Flipped Classroom: It's the model where the student studies the content virtually, having a more active presence in the classroom. This hybrid learning model allows the student to ask questions and make relevant comments for their development and that of their colleagues.

- Flex: A model widely used during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this hybrid learning model, the student follows a roadmap delivered by a digital platform, carrying out activities in two moments: alone or with the help of a tutor/teacher. One of the advantages of the Flex model is the possibility of alternating between individual and collective activities.
- À la carte: One of the most challenging models, it consists of giving autonomy for the student to choose which subject to study, whether virtual or face-to-face. This hybrid learning model usually works better in institutions that already adopt education personalization.
How to implement in your institution
To implement hybrid learning in your educational institution, a lot of patience, research, and experimentation is necessary.
Each institution has different realities and needs, so reflect and have your objectives well defined. This way, it will be easier when deciding which hybrid learning model best suits the results you want to achieve.
Once you define these objectives, remember that to implement it, academic, pedagogical, structural, and technological preparation is needed. In this scenario, the educator will be the bridge between student protagonism and educational guidance and encouragement.
